Hardest Thing I've Ever Done

I think what I had to do tonight trumps all of the terribly awful hard things I've ever had to do as a mom!
Brandon behaved absolutely deplorably at the gym tonight for the childcare worker. And when I say deplorably, I mean deplorably! In a completely un-Brandon manner, but unacceptable nonetheless. So, in addition to apologizing to the worker and getting a spanking before leaving the gym, I also told him that he would come home, eat his dinner, get a quick scrubbing in the bathtub, and go straight to bed tonight. Then, as we pulled into the driveway, my heart sank for the little man.
Nick had unexpectedly put up the tent in the front yard, with the intention of "camping out" with Abi and Brandon, which Brandon has been begging to do for quite a while. Unfortunately, Brandon had decided to be a stinker on the wrong day. Needless to say, only Nick and Abi are sleeping in the tent tonight, and there is one very sad little boy in his own bed tonight.
Bless his little heart.
Bet he'll behave a little more gentlemanly in the near future.
Hard to be the mom tonight.

OHHHH those decisions are so hard. What's sad is that I know I would have caved, and my child would have missed a great lesson in life. Your children will learn those lessons fast, and will be better for it. They will be able to look back, glad that they had a mother who trained them early, while most of their friends will still be in rebellion. Mothering is sooooo hard. I know you did the right thing though.

Mischelle, you are an amazing mom for doing what you did. That must have been horribly difficult. But you know that he will learn a huge lesson from it. I saw a child yesterday, probably around 4, who was acting more horribly than I have ever seena child act. If I hadn't beleived in discipline before, I definitely would have now. His parents just stood back and smirked or shrugged, obviously not having the strength to be the parent you were to Brandon.

You are an amazing mom! I'm very proud of you, not that you would have handled the situation any differently. You go super mom!!!

This makes me want to cry! I HATE situations like this. It is SO hard for me to see my kids disappointed. You totally did the right thing! Way to go!

Kuddos to you.

Saying No is MUCH harder than saying Yes.

I do think motherhood is the hardest thing I have ever done. I know that was hard for you to stand your ground but like you said, hopefully an important lesson was learned!
